Local Seafood Projects was founded to reconnect communities with the watermen, farmers, and innovators who keep the Chesapeake Bay’s seafood heritage alive. Our mission is to use technology and collaboration to strengthen Maryland’s coastal economy, promote sustainable aquaculture, and make local seafood more visible and accessible than ever before.
From our early marketplace efforts with Clawsome, a platform that helps seafood vendors share real-time prices, menus, and pickup options with nearby buyers, to our environmental engineering work with Project PEARL, which develops floating bio-filtration systems that clean waterways while supporting research and jobs, each initiative reflects the same core belief: local impact starts with local action.
Together, these projects form a living ecosystem of innovation — one that honors tradition while embracing progress. Whether we’re helping a crab house reach new customers, building technology that restores water quality, or mentoring youth in blue-economy careers, Local Seafood Projects is proud to stand at the crossroads of sustainability, community, and the future of Maryland seafood.
